Lost Knight #1: The First Universal Studios Display Car

In Late 1983/early 1984, Universal Studios debuted the now famous "K.I.T.T. over water" attraction. From that time until the late 90's, thousands of fans had the opportunity to sit in K.I.T.T. and have a conversation with him (in reality, a Universal employee would sit nearby and answer questions). Due to the abuse the car received from all the visitors, the studio wisely had a back-up K.I.T.T. to replace the original car while it was being repaired.

Once the water display was closed, this car ended up being parked along a walkway with its doors sealed and windows painted black. It was rumored to have been sold around 2000/2001 and hasn't been seen since.

The dashboard is most likely gone from this car as the gullwing steering wheel, monitor frame, Tachometer board, voicebox and PANP board are all privately owned and confirmed parts from this car.

This car is NOT the same one that had the ground effects under the front nose and ended up in a salvage yard in 2008. This car always sported a season 2/3 front nose, front ground effects, a rear defrost hatch and white letter "Goodyear Eagle ST" tires. The last known picture of the car can be seen above.

Do you know where this car is? If so, let us know!
